FOOD INTOLERANCE - the problem

Food intolerance is thought to affect as many as 45% of the UK population and chances are it may be little different where you live. Allergy UK links food intolerance a.k.a. food sensitivity to a wide range of symptoms for which people often are given symptom modifying, prescription only medication (POM). Have a look how potential consequences of food sensitivity or food intolerance are managed in a conventional medical way, are your symptoms on this list?

The combination of eliminating proven trigger foods plus creating a 24 hour protective intestinal buffer via the daily ingestion of Aloeride® is an extremely robust and effective way to manage food sensitivity related symptoms.

We help you in two ways with 1) an affordable test that tells you exactly what food stuffs you are sensitive to and 2) a useful buffer for your digestive tract.

FOOD INTOLERANCE - it helps to know your triggers

Research at the University of South Manchester found that food specific immunoglobulin G (IgG) is linked to people suffering from chronic inflammation. Three ways in which conventional medicine manages chronic inflammation are analgesics, non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) or immune suppressants. Is using POM all one can do? Of course it is not!

Over 32% of patients who got better through food intolerance were getting little or no relief from their symptoms whilst on the books of the NHS, Nutrition and Food Science, 2007 (Vol 37 Issue 1).

A clinical trial, published in the medical journal 'GUT', focused on diagnosed sufferers of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The trial followed 150 patients for three months and the severity of symptoms were recorded. It showed that the elimination diet based on the true results was "significantly more effective" and those patients saw a "clinically significant improvement" in their IBS.

In a migraine audit, patients recruited from Primary Care practices were encouraged to alter their diets to eliminate the appropriate foods. Their progress was followed for a 2-month period. This study showed 'a marked proportion of the migraine patients benefited from dietary intervention by cutting out (the problem) foods'. And that 'over 60% of patients who re-introduced the suspect foods back into their diets reported the return of their migraine symptoms'.

Problem is, most people know about IgE mediated, classical immediate reaction food allergy. Many have heard of Coeliac disease which is an autoimmune disease triggered by gluten (a collective name for a type of protein found in the cereals wheat, rye and barley or oats). But few people know about delayed onset food allergy which is IgG mediated.

Note that food sensitivity can also arise from mechanisms that do not involve the body's immune system such as adverse reactions due to enzyme deficiencies (e.g. lactose intolerance) or chemical sensitivities such as reactions to food additives like tartrazine (E102) and sunset yellow (E110) or excess fermentation. Classical food allergy, Coeliac disease and delayed onset food allergy (food intolerance) require different tests to identify them, and different management.

FOOD INTOLERANCE - your solution

FOOD INTOLERANCE - your solution

Not many people have the time or indeed the patience to collate a food diary and undertake the painstaking process of elimination - provocation. Isn't there an easier way to identify what you are allergic to? If you want a reliable food intolerance test that identifies the possible link between what you eat and your symptoms, if you want a simple test that identifies specific foods to exclude, then this test is for you.

Cutting out substances that irritate your body is a sensible and quick way to manage symptoms and long-term it is a very safe way. Avoiding such triggers for three months and following an anti-intolerance diet helps most people grow out of IgG based intolerances and opens the possibility of introducing (some of) them again into their diet. Elimination thus need not be 'for always'.
What if it is always, if it stops you for instance having migraines then elimination is a totally logical intervention. Three out of four York test buyers had a noticeable improvement in their condition and 68% of those benefited within 3 weeks after eliminating problem foods.

This is a finger-prick test (tolerated even by small children) with detailed, easy-to-follow instructions. The laboratory tells you which foods to avoid, which are borderline and which cause no reaction. It sends you a comprehensive results pack including a 12 week food diary and sensible tips to make the change easy. It sends you a handy credit card sized summary of your results. You are given two free telephone consultations with a qualified nutritionist from the British Association of Nutritional Therapists.
